The Industrial Property Rights (marks) and Intellectual Property Rights (copyrights) are being an important field for illicit conducts in the electronic commerce, specially through Internet.
Most controversies of Internet arise from purchases made "on line" among cybernauts and the ever increasing use by commercial firms of Internet to develop their promotional activities.
This is a fact that has made that most actions undertaken to adjust the legal system to this new socio-economic reality have been taken to the field of the protection to consumers. There are however other important aspects also concerning the scope of the mercantile laws such as the Intellectual Property and Trademark Laws in Internet.
