So, what makes Internet marketing different from traditional marketing? For starters, the Internet changes the parameters of what constitutes a market. Traditional markets are defined largely by geographical parameters. On the Internet, for certain product types, you can now create a market out of 10 people in Dublin, 10 people in New York, 10 people in Lisboa, 10 people in every major city in the world.
Internet marketing changes the relationship between producer and consumer, making it potentially a lot closer and more intimate. With email, you can communicate with far more people in one hour, for example, than with phone or fax. Using your website properly, you can make the consumer a much more integrated part of the product development cycle, ensuring that your products are designed with the consumers exact needs in mind.
